RAIN HELPS NAB
TWO INTERVIEWS
Well...my daughter came up here with a mission of nabbing two or three interviews for a class project she's working on. We were walking through the garage area when a heavy shower moved in as we were walking toward Tony Kanaan's car hauler where he was standing. Just as the rain got heavier Tony invited us to get under the platform and I then told him about Kayla being a journalism student and asked if she could talk to him for a bit. He was very gracious enough to answer anything she asked and allowed her to get their picture taken together. Then the rain got harder and I looked behind me to see Marco Andretti standing at the end of hauler watching the rain. With Tony and Marco being her favorite drivers she was already nervous but with a little push I had her come up to where Marco was at. I then asked Marco about letting Kayla to talk to her for a couple of minutes and at first he hesitated. Then after looking down at her he let her come up into the hauler for a brief interview. It was only 35 seconds worth but one photographer told me that was worth five years. It's something he rarely does and for her it was pretty big. I think she's still shaking. She's the happiest girl alive right now. And if she doesn't get an A on this something is very wrong....
So now we're off watch the last practice of the day. I'm just hoping the rain holds off till he race is over. I didn't bring my bumbershoot.   %-)
