My First Post

Well......here goes....my first post.
I should have done this a long time ago but since I'm just starting out I'm going to make it simple.

As you all know I'm a photographer/writer/hiker/outdoor guy/someone who is always looking for the unexpected/someone who is looking for that big adrenaline rush (with the exception of jumping out of airplanes).

My last big rush came with my 73-mile through the Smoky Mountains in June and the biggest rush of that was having a staredown with a 400-pound black bear that probably could have made mince meat out of me if he had wanted to bad enough. (Oh....I won the staredown by the way.)
But now I have a new adventure coming up. A new 60-mile hike I'll be taking in less than three weeks. This one is through the Land Between the Lakes. It should be an easy hike with only a 200-foot elevation change but two things I'm looking forward to is maybe being able to photograph some elk and bison that are in the park and also pitching a tent right along Kentucky Lake.
I've really got into this hiking stuff. It's a great way to destress and a great way for me to get rid of this basketball I've got around my middle. I wore some of it off on my last big hike but I became a ravenous maniac when I got home and have put some of that back on. With it cooling down I'm planning on doing an even lot more hiking this fall and even some during the winter. With my winter hikes I want to go deep on some trails during a time that most everybody else will parking themselves in front of a roaring fireplace or over a heating vent. I've got my Mt. Washington gear to keep me warm but the big thing is I want to see some things NOBODY has ever seen and get pictures of it. At least that's the plan. Now all I have to do is get there and do it.

This being my first post I don't have any pictures to put on it right now but that will change in the very near future. Hopefully I'll have really something to show you from the Lakes.
